Creating home environments for individuals with disabilities...

MARC provides adults with disabilities a choice of safe and caring environments – group homes, individual apartments, their own family homes, and/or foster care settings.

Helping people learn in vocationally-oriented settings...

MARC teaches new skills to adults with retardation:

  • Developmental Training where self help and socialization skills are taught and occupational and physical therapies are provided;
  • Job Training teaches job skills in small groups;
  • Supported Employment assists individuals in getting jobs in the community and supports them where they work.

Providing inclusive leisure time activities...

  • Highly popular chaperoned weekend vacations to various Texas and New Mexico destinations
  • Out-of-door experiences in hunting, fishing and camping
  • Fun community activities in small groups with volunteers
  • Pop Bottle - a weekend activity designed to encourage socialization with peers and to provide short-term respite for families

Providing other supports...

  • Parent Programs that provide essential information to families who have children with mental retardation, i.e. guardianship, Social Security benefits, estate planning, etc.
  • Seminars for community professionals, i.e., estate planners, attorneys, physicians, etc.
  • ARD assistance (Admission, Review and Dismissal meetings for students in special education), especially for transition planning

Chris Davidson Opportunity Park
A community resource providing barrier-free, accessible recreation...

A Midland resource unlike any other park in our community, the park is accessible to individuals who use wheelchairs for mobility. Touted by hundreds of children as the "fun" park in town, Opportunity Park is used not only by individuals, but by day care centers and school groups as well.
